Beatrice Tate School

Beatrice Tate School is an essential education and care facility for pupils with severe learning difficulties in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The existing building was built to accommodate a maximum of 75 pupils and at present there are circa 110 students attending the school. To meet this demand, a temporary modular building with four classrooms was installed in Spring 2021 at the adjacent Southern Grove site.

The project involved constructing a permanent 3-storey extension to the main school building to increase capacity and meet future enrolment demands. A further 4 studios and specific class bases were converted into general purpose classrooms to accommodate this increase whilst the permanent extension project was being carried out. Additional space was also extended onto the existing staff room at the school and a further classroom was placed onto an existing flat roof that was unoccupied at Beatrice Tate School.
